When Piyush and I started Mercurius Media Capital, it was an idea: could we help media platforms adapt to a changing advertising world, and could we bring value to startups to not get lost in the noise? We've now raised $200 million from 10 limited partners towards this mission, and we're doubling our deployment annually. Today, we hosted the first MMC Summit at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, with an amazing set of LPs, startup partners, advisors, and friends. Thank you to those who have been partners and who joined us today. $200 million is no small feat, but it's a drop in the bucket of what we can do. Every year, roughly $400 billion is spent on media in the US alone. Most of it flows to a small group of very large platforms. Even shifting 1% away from the default platforms towards our media partners can result in billions in value shift for media partners, and can help companies reach audiences in places that are less crowded and more trusted. The summit has also been about great conversations. Founders who are trying to build real companies, not just optimize ad funnels. Media partners who care about the kind of brands they put in front of their audiences. Honest conversations about what works, what is broken in the current model, and how we can effect real change. Like any startup, MMC is still early. We are learning from every partner, every deal, every miss. Hosting our first summit felt like an important step in turning an interesting structure into a lasting institution.
