char
This is an example of how to use a char type in Java. The char data type is a single 16-bit Unicode character. It has a minimum value of ‘\u0000’ (or 0) and a maximum value of ‘\uffff’ (or 65,535 inclusive).
- In order to create variable of
char type you should type the char keyword in a variable.Let’s take a look at the code snippet that follows:
package com.javacodegeeks.snippets.basics;
public class CharExample {
public static void main(String[] args) {
char ch1 = 'a';
char ch2 = 65; /* ASCII code of 'A'*/
System.out.println("Value of char ch1 is: " + ch1);
System.out.println("Value of char ch2 is: " + ch2);
}
}
Output:
Value of char ch1 is: a
Value of char ch2 is: A
