ISMC at the #RawMaterialsWeek2025 | OECD Session on Responsible EU Mineral Projects Yesterday, the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster | ISMC attended the session “Subnational conditions to advance responsible EU mineral projects: Lessons from OECD mining regions”, held within the framework of Raw Materials Week 2025 in Brussels. 🌍🤝 The session, co-organised by the OECD - OCDE and the European Commission, brought together public authorities, regional representatives and industry leaders to discuss how local ecosystems, governance structures and community engagement shape the future of responsible mineral projects across Europe. The debate addressed key challenges and opportunities, from strengthening regional mining ecosystems to reducing social polarisation and ensuring long-lasting socioeconomic benefits for mining communities. ISMC was represented by Patricia Núñez Cortés, Institutional and Business Relations Coordinator. 🌍 How is the raw materials sector addressing the challenge of the Social Licence to Operate (#SLO)? In the coming years, the SLO will be a decisive factor for the development of #mining and industrial projects in #Europe, shaping which initiatives gain social acceptance and which struggle to move forward. At the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster | ISMC), we support the RM-SLO-PLUS-HUB project, funded by EIT RawMaterials, which aims to establish the first European hub dedicated to SLO: a space providing training, consultancy, and best-practice sharing to strengthen social acceptance and foster trust between industry, territories, and communities. #ISMC is already at Raw Materials Week 2025 in Brussels! This key annual event brings together representatives from the European Commission, industry, governments, research organisations, and civil society to discuss the latest developments in #EU raw materials policy and innovation. This year’s core programme (18–20 November) focuses on the implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act, the acceleration of strategic projects, streamlined permitting, and the mobilisation of sustainable investment to build resilient, competitive, and circular value chains in Europe. 🔎 Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster | ISMC is actively participating in several sessions and side events, representing multiple European projects in which we take part to drive innovation, #sustainability, and the green transition across the raw materials sector. La European Commission ha presentado su nueva estrategia para reforzar la autonomía industrial del continente en un contexto global marcado por tensiones geopolíticas, competencia tecnológica y creciente presión sobre las cadenas de suministro. En este escenario, garantizar el acceso seguro y sostenible a materias primas críticas, imprescindibles para sectores como la movilidad eléctrica, la defensa, la energía o la digitalización, se convierte en un pilar estratégico para la Unión Europea. 🔋 El nuevo plan #RESourceEU impulsará acciones clave para: - Reducir dependencias externas y diversificar proveedores. - Aumentar el reciclaje y la economía circular. - Impulsar proyectos europeos de extracción y procesado. - Establecer alianzas internacionales estables y sostenibles. - Fortalecer la resiliencia industrial en toda la cadena de valor. 🔹 El Ayuntamiento de Mieres se une al impulso del Nodo Asturiano de Minería Sostenible 🔹 El Ayuntamiento De Mieres, representado por su alcalde Manuel Ángel Álvarez, ha mostrado su apoyo al Nodo Asturiano del Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster | ISMC, reafirmando su compromiso con la innovación, la sostenibilidad y la transformación económica de las cuencas mineras. Durante la reunión mantenida con la dirección del clúster, encabezada por Santiago Cuesta López, junto a Patricia Núñez Cortés (#ISMC), y en la que también participaron María Gutiérrez González (Grupo HUNOSA) y Juan M.
