This month, we’re highlighting Raman Sharma, who began his journey with Steelcon as a Production Coordinator and has grown into his current role as Plant Manager at our Smith Shop. Over the years, Raman has played a key role in leading plant operations, supporting team development, and driving continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, safety, and overall performance. Here is what he had to say about his Steelcon journey: What attracted you to Steelcon, and how has your role evolved since you joined? "After graduating as a Civil Engineering Technician in 2014, I was drawn to Steelcon for its reputation for innovation and commitment to employee growth. Since then, I’ve advanced from Production Coordinator to Supervisor, Assistant Plant Manager, and now Plant Manager. Each role deepened my understanding of how every department contributes to the bigger picture and expanded my knowledge of the full production process. I’m grateful to my mentors, whose guidance has been key to my development." Can you share a moment or decision that significantly influenced your career path? "A pivotal moment in my career was moving from a coordinator role into a leadership position on the plant floor. That transition pushed me to strengthen my technical expertise while developing leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. It also deepened my understanding of how these abilities impact safety, production, and team success, reinforcing my passion for continuous improvement and leading by example." What do you enjoy most about your current role? "What I enjoy most about my current role is the constant opportunity to tackle challenges and find solutions that make a tangible difference. Each day brings something new, whether it is improving a process, addressing an issue, or supporting the team, and I find it incredibly rewarding to see the positive results of those efforts." What advice would you give to someone just starting their career at Steelcon? "My advice is to stay curious, work hard, and take every opportunity to learn. Do not hesitate to ask questions or take on challenges outside your comfort zone, because that is where the most growth happens. Steelcon truly values effort and initiative, and if you bring those qualities to your work, you will find plenty of opportunities to build a successful and fulfilling career here." #Steelcon #EmployeeSpotlight #Management #Production #Construction #Innovation #SINBeam #CareersInConstruction #StructuralSteel #SteelIndustry #EmployeeJourney

#ThrowbackThursday In 2020, Ontario launched the Accelerated Build Pilot Program, an ambitious initiative to fast-track the delivery of new long-term care homes across the province. By 2023, two of those projects, Humber Meadows LTC and Wellbrook Place, were complete, creating more than 950 new beds for Ontario seniors. Steelcon was proud to be a design-assist partner on both projects, delivering the structural steel scope of work and leveraging our proprietary SIN Beam technology to reduce steel tonnage, speed up installation, and meet the program’s ambitious timeline. Both of these builds stand as proof that collaboration, innovation, and precision engineering can redefine what’s possible, even under accelerated schedules. #Steelcon #SINBeam #StructuralSteel #MetalDeck #Engineering #Construction #SteelFabrication #SteelErection #ThrowbackThursday

HAVEN® Mass Timber Overbuild Platform is a prime example of how Canadian ingenuity can drive real change in our built environment. We’re proud to contribute to initiatives that help build a stronger, more resilient Canada. Faster builds, lower emissions, and more homes delivered at scale!
FULL ARTICLE HERE: https://lnkd.in/gZFXU7pb While our economy remains rich in natural resources and intellectual capital, Canada has lost much of our domestic manufacturing depth, and with that the ability to transform our ideas into globally competitive, tangible products. Rebuilding this capacity is essential not just for economic resilience, but for ensuring that Canada’s world-class intellectual property gets embedded within global supply chains. The opportunity lies not in simply reviving legacy manufacturing sectors, but in building a new generation of advanced manufacturing focused on high-value components for strategic industries — especially housing. With a generational investment in the Canadian economy to be unveiled in the upcoming federal budget on November 4th, catalyzing industrial construction to get more homes built faster, is an opportunity to integrate our manufacturing sector more closely with construction; it is an opportunity that we cannot afford to miss. Exemplifying how Canada’s new industrial construction ecosystem can come together in practice is the HAVEN® Mass Timber Overbuild Platform. Designed to deliver housing at scale and speed across Canadian cities, Haven leverages prefabrication and adaptive reuse to minimize disruption, cost, and carbon emissions. Developed with funding from CMHC to convert and expand existing concrete office buildings, Haven exploits the lightweight nature of mass timber structures and takes advantage of spare structural capacity in reinforced concrete buildings. Haven integrates UnitiWall façades, Zamba HVAC’s high-performance systems, Steelcon’s SIN beams, and Upbrella’s sheltered construction system in delivering a cohesive product designed to accelerate housing delivery. Integrating Canada’s manufacturing base with industrialized construction is about strategic renewal. By combining our intellectual capital, legacy industries, and emerging technologies, we can manufacture the components that define the future of sustainable housing and infrastructure. This is how Canada moves from being an exporter of ideas and raw materials to a builder of solutions that the world needs. From large-scale industrial projects to specialized facilities, Steelcon trusses are engineered for long spans, open layouts, and uncompromising strength. Designed for flexibility, our trusses are fabricated to suit each project’s unique demands. Depending on site constraints and delivery logistics, they may be fully built in our shop and shipped to site, partially assembled with sub-assemblies completed in the field, or fabricated as separate components for on-site assembly. Each piece is prepared to exact measurements, aligned at the jig station for accuracy, and inspected by our Quality Control team at multiple stages to ensure every truss meets our standards. With dedicated production lines for trusses up to 120 ft and advanced fabrication systems, Steelcon delivers large-scale structural solutions built for precision, efficiency, and performance. #Steelcon #Engineering #SteelFabrication #TrussFabrication #SteelErection #MiscMetals #MetalDeck #StructuralSteel #Trusses #ProjectSpotlight #showcase

#ThrowbackThursday In 2018, Steelcon was proud to be awarded the structural steel scope of work that would bring the 64,508 sq ft Kipling Transit Hub to life in Toronto, seamlessly connecting TTC subway, GO Transit rail and buses, and MiWay services into a modern, LEED Gold-certified hub. When evolving design spiked costs and threatened timelines, Steelcon stepped up to assist design with our proprietary SIN Beam technology to reduce steel tonnage, speed up delivery, and provide significant cost savings, all while preserving the hub’s iconic cantilevered roof and functionality. The result is a sustainable, award-worthy transit gateway that showcases how Steelcon’s expertise and innovation helps construction teams overcome complex challenges, on time and on budget. #Steelcon #SINBeam #StructuralSteel #MetalDeck #Engineering #Construction #SteelFabrication #SteelErection
