We had such a great time at The Space Architect at the Architecture and Design Film Festival (ADFF)! Members of Parkin’s Vancouver team recently attended a screening at the festival, where design enthusiasts and industry professionals explore visionary thinking at the intersection of architecture, technology, and the built environment. We were inspired by the film’s exploration of innovative design approaches and conversation with the design community.

We’re pleased to share that Principals Laura Hann and Rebecca MacDonald, M.ARCH recently presented to TWITS– a women’s support group associated with the Women’s Centre for Resources– on Women-Focused Hospital Planning. Laura and Rebecca’s session highlighted key trends shaping care conditions for women and emerging approaches to childbirth environments, underscoring the importance of designing healthcare spaces that promote dignity, comfort, and well-being.

At Parkin, safety is more than a policy– it’s a core value. 🦺 Our team recently completed Working at Heights training to strengthen on-site safety practices and ensure every visit to a construction site is as safe as it is productive. We love seeing our Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal teams come together! ❤️ Parkin recently gathered for collaborative work sessions and team events to mark a major milestone: the 95% Design Development submission for the New Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus Development project. This achievement reflects their collective effort, expertise, and dedication as we advance this landmark healthcare project for the Ottawa community.

We’re honoured to share that the Grandview Children’s Treatment Centre (GCTC) Redevelopment Project has received the Award of Merit in the P3 Design and Construction category at the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships’ 2025 National Awards. This recognition celebrates the GCTC Redevelopment Project’s delivery of innovative, cost-effective, and best-in-class infrastructure for Canadians. Parkin was proud to accept this award alongside our partners in the Children First Consortium (CFC): Amico Affiliates Design Build Inc., SACYR, H.H. Angus & Associates Ltd., and Stonebridge Financial Corporation. Designed by Parkin, Grandview Kids redefines what a children’s treatment centre can be– an environment that is inclusive, joyful, and deeply supportive of child and family well-being. The new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Ontario redefines what community healthcare can look like when design begins with empathy. At 192,000 sq. ft., the hospital was envisioned around the needs of its growing senior population– from slip-resistant rubber flooring and intuitive wayfinding to single inpatient rooms that enhance safety and dignity. Every detail, from locally inspired artwork to colour-coded departments and bright, welcoming communal spaces, reflects a deep connection to the people and place it serves.
