Starting January 1, 2026, eligible veterans and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, including regular and reserve personnel, can travel free year-round on UP Express with a valid ID. This is an extension of the free GO Transit travel program for veterans and CAF members launched earlier this year. • Paying with PRESTO has evolved over the years, and we're committed to ensuring it remains convenient and reliable for public transit users across the region through innovation.   That’s made possible by connecting with industry partners like we recently did at the second annual Transit Payments Innovation Summit. Metrolinx and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) hosted leaders from across the industry to connect, share ideas and explore emerging trends in payments technology.   Our peers from London, Puget Sound and Vancouver shared how they’re shaping customer experiences through innovation. Our keynote speaker from VISA also offered insight into the future of payments technology.   We’re proud of how far PRESTO has come and we’re excited about what’s next. Stay tuned as we continue to build for a better transit experience.

  • Sometimes progress means hitting pause. Over the weekend, we temporarily stopped service on the Lakeshore East and Stouffville GO lines to make room for important work that will bring more GO service to the area while connecting to a new subway line. Closing the lines took extensive planning and coordination, and gave crews the chance to make signal updates, reinstall storm drains, prepare the ground for future tracks and other work that can’t be done when trains are running. To our customers and communities—thank you for your patience as we get ready for the next phases of construction to expand GO service and build the Ontario Line subway.

  • New stations are coming to the Kitchener Line and UP Express. This weekend we paused service to move tracks and other critical work for Woodbine and St. Clair-Old Weston stations.   Time out like this takes enormous coordination with partners that rely on this corridor to keep goods and business moving across the region.   For customers—thank you for your patience—these improvements are another step toward faster and more GO Transit/UP Express service along the Kitchener Line.   To learn more about future planned construction, visit: https://lnkd.in/gHiqP_gH

  • When a bridge has been standing for over 100 years, replacing it isn’t simple – it takes time, planning and hitting pause on train service. As we cheered alongside you throughout the World Series, we postponed important work at the Etobicoke Creek Bridge to get fans to the games. We needed to resume work as soon as possible, which meant changes to service on the Lakeshore West line from November 2 to 4. Over the last few days, crews installed a crane over the track, which will lift the new bridge spans into place. Thank you for your patience during these closures which will continue into select weekends in November and December. This work is crucial to maintaining a safe, reliable transit network that will serve our community today and for generations to come. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gaEXjVyu

  • Big changes are coming to Toronto’s east end! The new East Harbour Transit Hub is taking shape. Once complete it will connect GO, TTC and the future Ontario Line to reshape how we move throughout the region. With 100,000 daily riders expected, it’s more than a station. Take a look at the progress being made.

  • November 2 to 8 is Treaties Recognition Week, an opportunity to learn, understand and honour the importance of treaties, treaty rights and relationships and the ongoing relevance of treaties in Ontario. This week, we’ll promote Treaties Recognition Week to customers across the Metrolinx network and host internal events to deepen understanding about the lands upon which we operate and the peoples whose traditional territories we travel through.
