Canadians have spoken loud and clear - they’re done stressing about money struggles in private. In our 2025 #FigFinancialBarometer with Angus Reid Group we surveyed over 1,500 Canadians and 94% of them believe it should be socially acceptable to talk about money struggles. 84% of Canadians are carrying debt, and many say it’s affecting their confidence, relationships, and mental well‑being. Some of what we learned: ▪️ Nearly 1 in 7 aren’t sure they’ll ever pay off their debt ▪️ 39% say money worries keep them up at night ▪️ 51% feel guilty spending on themselves ▪️ 47% say a $10,000 emergency would push them into debt ▪️ 41% would rather admit gaining weight than struggling financially The stigma around money is real. And it’s holding people back from getting the support they need. As our CEO Francois Cote shared, “Money has become more than a financial tool, it’s become a reflection of how people see themselves. November is Financial Literacy Month and with the holidays around the corner, it’s not just gift lists growing longer, it’s debt worries too. It’s no surprise: debt in Canada is at an all-time high thanks to the rising cost of living. Canadians are paying more for the same essentials, and it’s stretching a lot of wallets thin. The Fig team recently held our very own Fig Shark Tank,🦈 a team-building session where groups teamed up to pitch bold, out-of-the-box ideas. 🚀 From teleportation devices to a Gen-Z translation machine (low-key genius, TBH 😅), no concept was off-limits as the groups unleashed their imaginations. 💡 The result? An afternoon packed with creativity, engaging storytelling, and teamwork. It was a great reminder of how innovative and impactful ideas can develop when diverse perspectives work together.
