Earlier this week, we officially launched the new Mount Dennis Early Learning and Child Care Centre 🥳. At 19,000 square feet, this new facility will be the largest childcare centre operated by the City, symbolizing our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, affordable childcare for parents in Toronto. The Mount Dennis Early Learning and Child Care Centre is also the City of Toronto’s first net-zero building that is fully electrified and not connected to natural gas. Its design includes advanced energy features such as a geothermal pump system, which uses underground temperature to help heat and cool the building, and triple-glazed windows, which utilize three panes of glass for better energy efficiency. This is an exciting step as we continue towards our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions as a city by 2040. For more information about this new facility, head to: https://lnkd.in/eZsu8EKM

Building affordable homes is our priority. Don Summerville is an innovative example of what we can do with bold vision, community and strong partnerships.  From what was once 120 rent-geared-to-income (RGI) homes in Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) buildings, has grown to 780 homes to meet the needs of residents of all income levels. Made up of 3 buildings, Don Summerville includes rentals and condos available at market value, and RGI and co-operative homes. Working with TCHC, Context Developments Inc., and RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust allowed this inclusive and revitalized project to come to life. This #NationalHousingWeek, we’re continuing to focus on investing in partnerships like this that allow us to build homes for Torontonians today and in the future.
