October marks Latin American Heritage Month, a vibrant celebration of the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Latin Americans. With roots spanning over 22 countries, the Latin American community has profoundly shaped our society and continues to inspire its future. At Aviso, we’ve embraced this month with a series of meaningful events that honor and celebrate this heritage. From engaging introductory Spanish lessons to an inspiring guest speaker session with Lina Rodriguez—an acclaimed filmmaker and associate professor at TMU—we’ve created opportunities to learn, connect, and reflect. A highlight was the screening of Lina’s powerful film, Mis Dos Voces, at our Toronto office, followed by an insightful discussion with her. In addition, we’re proud to support the community through action. Aviso has donated $5,000 each to two incredible organizations: the Hispanic Canadian Arts and Cultural Association and the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre, both of which play vital roles in preserving and promoting Latin American culture in Canada. By celebrating, recognizing, and taking meaningful action, we’re fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusion, and the power of cultural heritage.
