Congratulations, September MPS Shines winners!

Congratulations, September MPS Shines winners!

Each month, staff have an opportunity to nominate their colleagues for MPS Shines. Winners are randomly chosen from the nominations and receive recognition across MPS newsletters and social media, a coffee mug and other prizes.

Help us congratulate our first MPS Shines winners of the 2025-26 school year:

MPS Shines winner

Patty Kroulik, Special Education teacher (SERT), Webster Elementary

"Patty is the definition of SHINES. She shows up everyday with a radiant, positive energy for staff and students. She is the biggest team player, always willing to pitch in and support, listens to you when you need a friend, and puts student needs at the forefront of everything she does. She is creative in her problem solving, very motivated to find a solution to every problem in a way that benefits our students needs.

As a special education teacher, she is thinking about ways to be inclusive for her students, and always brings a SPED perspective to whole-school meetings and discussions. It is so evident in Patty's work that she is so incredibly dedicated to Webster students, families and staff, to make sure that everyone has a positive experience at this school. She will pitch in and help anywhere she can, whether that be with the office staff, gen ed teachers, administration, etc., and yet always brings compassion, warmth and humor.

She is a true leader at Webster, and I look up to Patty. She makes me want to be a better educator." - Kira Haglin

Vernon Rowe

Vernon Rowe, principal, Northeast Middle School

"For years, Mr. Rowe has led our school with passion and heart. He regularly challenges each of us staff members to remember the "why" behind our choice to become an educator, and to keep that reason at the center of our work. He leads by example, always considering what's best for our school, students and their families, and modeling quality "customer service."

He spreads positive energy in the halls everyday, greeting and checking in on staff and students always with care and uplift. Mr. Rowe has been central in promoting a welcoming, family-like environment for all who work at, attend, and enter Northeast Middle School, and I am proud to be a part of it." - Betsy Martinez

Sarah Wicklund

Sarah Wicklund, family and community liaison, Hall STEM Academy

"Sarah is very committed and supportive to the students, staff and families at Hall STEM Academy. She goes above, around and beyond in every capacity. Sarah deserves to be celebrated district wide." - Rachel Stewart
