Hi there
Help turn loneliness into belonging and connection these holidays
While many of us spend time with friends and loved ones during the holidays, people experiencing homelessness and hardship can be left feeling isolated and deeply alone.
At a time when many support services close, it’s more important than ever that we turn up, put out our orange chairs, and offer our friends the chance to connect.
Your gift today can help our services run throughout the holidays, providing a safe place to go and a welcoming smile, alongside genuine conversation and connection.
Help friends like Shane stay connected during tough times
“I’m Shane, and guess what? I’m homeless, just like a lot of other people. It’s a tough gig.
What holiday periods mean for me is not really a great deal, because I don’t have many family or friends. Normally, holidays, particularly Christmas, are really tough because there’s no one around.
A lot of organisations close at this time of year, but someone’s got to still be out there doing something, showing that there’s somewhere to go and someone who cares.
When you come to Orange Sky, you’re coming to a place where you’ve got people waiting for you to arrive and you can have a chat while getting your washing done. And that’s invaluable. It’s breathtaking and it’s great for morale.”
Help turn hardship into hope these holidays
Between 1 December and 31 January, friends all over Australia will rely on us for:
Subject to volunteer availability, Orange Sky services will continue to run throughout the holiday season – including on major holidays.
And your vital support will help make this happen.
Help volunteers like Mark bring holiday cheer
Mark has volunteered with Orange Sky for around 10 years. He’s met many friends in his time with us, and says, “For me, Orange Sky is for our friends.”
But Mark also knows what working a shift means for volunteers.
“Our volunteers get a lot out of it, and in my humble view, I think what we do here is absolutely important – building our community, and having people know it’s a safe space to come every week, even on Christmas Day.”
A few years ago, Mark volunteered on Christmas Day, and he and the other volunteers “had an absolute ball” while connecting with friends.
“It meant people had a place to go, to share and break bread, and have a lovely Christmas Day. So it was wonderful. And the friends who came absolutely loved it.”
So far in 2025, thanks to our wonderful supporters, we’ve been able to provide…
You are very welcome to make a donation to Orange Sky by direct deposit to our bank account. Please call us on (07) 3067 5800 or email hello@orangesky.org to obtain our BSB and account number. We will generate a one-time individual reference number for you to use with your deposit so that we can easily identify your donation and forward a receipt.
Thank you so much for thinking of us for your kind donation! Unfortunately, due to our current capacity and resources, we are not able to accept, handle, or pass on donations of physical goods to our friends. We recommend getting in touch with another service provider in your area who may be better placed to store, sort and distribute items to people in need. You can also try searching Ask Izzy for local service providers.
All donations help us provide clean clothes, warm showers, and genuine conversation to those doing it tough. While most of our support is managed centrally to maximise efficiency, we can provide information on specific expenses related to the service area you’re interested in to show the impact of your donation. Please contact us at hello@orangesky.org to discuss this further.
Orange Sky has the status of a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), and any gift of money or property to Orange Sky over the value of $2 is tax-deductible in Australia.
