Conor Pall reminds us that children and young people aren’t just part of the story — they have their own experiences, their own voices and their own rights. Too often, they’re treated as an add-on, instead of being centred in conversations about safety and support. When we listen to them directly, we understand what they’re facing and what they need to feel safe. And when we act on that, we create change that actually works for them. With only 3 days left, join the Safe. Everywhere. Always. Challenge and help make sure women and children aren’t just acknowledged but truly supported. 🧡 Sign up now via https://lnkd.in/ghJYME3Q We would like to give a huge shoutout to for supporting #SafeEverywhereAlways campaign through the iEqualChange (i=Change) program 🙌🏼 #EndViolence #NoExcuse #16days #GenderEquality

  • Nearly half of the world's women and girls—1.8 billion—have no legal protection from digital violence. As cyberstalking, gendered disinformation, and AI-driven deepfakes escalate—increasing the risks women and girls face online—laws have failed to keep pace. This is unacceptable. This year's global campaign for the #16Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence demands urgent action #ForAllWomenAndGirls: 🟠 Close legal gaps 🟠 Hold perpetrators and tech platforms accountable 🟠 Demand a world where technology serves equality—not harm Read the full press release and register for the Safe. • “Good character” has long been used in courtrooms to soften the consequences for people convicted of sexual offences — even when the harm to survivors is profound. This practice often meant victims sat through praise of the person who harmed them: their reputation, their standing in the community, their “trustworthiness”, all while sitting bravely in the court room. None of that changes the violence they experienced and it definitely should never diminish it. Queensland has now passed major reforms to restrict how “good character” can be used in sexual offence sentencing. From November 2025, an offender’s ‘good character’ can only be considered if it relates to their likelihood of reoffending or prospects of rehabilitation. It’s a significant shift and a long overdue step toward a justice system that puts victims first.

  • Prof. Heather Douglas from University of Melbourne reminds us that speaking up isn’t always easy. People worry about how others will react, or whether they’ll be judged or excluded. That fear is real. That’s why having the right tools matters — knowing how to start a conversation, and how to share information in a way that feels safe for everyone involved. These skills help us look out for each other. They help us open doors instead of shutting people down. And they make it easier for all of us to speak up when something isn’t right. This 16 Days of Activism, we’re calling on Australians to take part in the #SafeEverywhereAlways Challenge, a national movement to end violence by turning every step, swim, ride or roll into support and real change. Your participation helps fund programs that protect and empower women and girls and advocate for change. With just 5 days left to the challenge, sign up via https://lnkd.in/gqpP2YNS today. Huge thanks to bighouse_arts for opening up their incredible space for this event and to the lovely Rachael Scerri for beautifully filming the day. #EndViolence #ForAllWomenAndGirls #NoExcuse #16days #GenderEquality Noelle Steele

  • We’re proud to share the faces of our panelists for the International Women’s Day event in Sydney. An in-depth conversation moderated by Walkley Award–winning journalist, author and educator Jess Hill, and featuring two trailblazing advocates for justice and equality. ✨ Grace Tame — 2021 Australian of the Year and founder of The Grace Tame Foundation, whose fight for survivors of child sexual abuse has driven national reform. ✨ Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts — the inaugural Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People — a Bundjalung woman, Fulbright Scholar, human rights lawyer and author of Long Yarn Short: We Are Still Here, who survived the Out of Home Care system and now reshapes child protection policy in Australia. This is a conversation Australia needs and one you won’t want to miss. Tickets are officially live, and Sydney sells fast every year. • 🌍🌡️ The triple planetary crisis – climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution – has very real and very unequal impacts on women and girls. 158.3 MILLION more women and girls may be pushed into poverty by climate shocks by 2050. While evidence shows women's leadership leads to more effective climate policies, only 28% of environment ministers are women. We must ensure women have the resources and power to lead #ClimateAction to build a resilient and sustainable future for all. Learn more at the link in our bio. #ForAllWomenAndGirls #COP30

  • Tarang Chawla reminds us that real change can start in small, everyday moments — when we remind the people around us to do better, and encourage the kind of behaviour that makes everyone feel safe and respected. A gentle reminder. A supportive nudge. A moment of choosing care over silence. These positive actions matter. They help shape the culture we want to live in. Huge thanks to Bighouse Arts for opening up their incredible space for this event and to the lovely Rachael Scerri for beautifully filming the day. • Tickets for International Women’s Day are officially live and we couldn’t be more excited. 🙋🏻♀️ This year, we’re gathering under the theme Balance the Scales, to spotlight what so many women and girls still fight for every day: fairness, safety and the chance to be heard. Across Australia and around the world, women continue to face systems that weren’t built for them — laws that overlook their realities, processes that silence them, and barriers that make justice feel out of reach. That’s why this theme matters. And why this year’s International Women's Month is so important. We’re proud to welcome Jennifer Robinson as our first keynote speaker, on-stage in Sydney and live-streamed across the country. Ms Robinson is an internationally recognised human rights lawyer who has spent her career challenging the laws that silence women and championing the reforms needed to protect their rights. On 4 March, we’ll come together in cities across the country to shine a light on these inequalities, celebrate courage, and push for the change women and girls deserve. 💜 Grab your tickets via https://lnkd.in/gf_m8Hq9! #IWD2026 #BalanceTheScales #ForAllWomenAndGirls #GenderEquality
