This new service represents a major milestone - the first-ever direct connection between the Sunshine Coast and Southeast Asia, opening up seamless access to one of the world’s most dynamic travel and business hubs, with onward connectivity to over 100 global destinations. We’re excited to announce Elenium Automation has been selected to deliver Australian-designed and manufactured self-service technology as part of our recently announced terminal redevelopment. Launching in 2026, the new system will include 18 self-service kiosks and 10 automated bag drops, streamlining check-in and enhancing the passenger experience. “We’re proud to deliver innovative technology designed and built right here in Australia. 📢 Terminal Transformation Takes Flight at Sunshine Coast Airport 📢 Today, Sunshine Coast Airport is proud to announce the appointment of construction company McNab as the builder of our highly anticipated domestic Terminal Redevelopment Project, with global architecture firm Populous leading the design. Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Chris Mills said the appointment of McNab and Populous reflected the airport’s commitment to working with respected partners to deliver world-class outcomes for the region. Planned Performance are the Project Managers and their proven expertise in Australian airport terminal expansions has been vital in guiding this project. The Terminal Redevelopment Project is being delivered in stages to minimise passenger disruption and keep operations running smoothly. Stage one is underway, with a new baggage handling facility due in early 2026 and full domestic terminal expansion by 2027. This is a major milestone in our journey as one of Australia’s fastest-growing airports. By 2030, Sunshine Coast Airport is forecast to welcome 2.4 million passengers annually. Gateway Precinct Master Plan   Announcement of Public Notification Period 15 September – 14 October 2025   Economic Development Queensland is seeking feedback on Sunshine Coast Airport’s proposed Gateway Precinct Master Plan during the 20-day public notification period from 15 September – 14 October 2025.   The Gateway Precinct includes a redeveloped terminal providing a welcoming arrival and departure experience, an airport hotel and other development opportunities supported by an active transport network.
