Hey tradies, mates, dads - if you’re heading into Bunnings this November you might spot a big box (it's probably going to be pink). Please don't just walk past, please take action 🙏 You see it is so much more than just a fun decorated box, it is hope, it's dignity and for some, it's a new beginning. We are asking YOU to make a difference this Christmas. All it takes is filling a bag with the essentials (shampoo & conditioner, toothbrush & toothpaste, deodorant, soap, and period products). Then drop it off at Bunnings by November 30. Too busy? Donate a few dollars and we’ll do it for you. Either way, you’re giving more than a bag, you’re giving love and hope. Step up this November. Be the bloke who makes a difference. 💪 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/d8GxA4yy #brointheknow

To ensure that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.
About us
Our Story Share the Dignity was founded in 2015 after it was identified that there was a genuine need to provide vulnerable women in our community with essential sanitary products. It was reported that these women are often forced to choose between buying food to eat or buying expensive sanitary items to get through their periods. Women and children, either homeless or in shelters, were having to clean themselves in public toilets and use paper towels to create makeshift period pads. This is not and should never be okay. From a grassroots local community initiative to a national charity, Share the Dignity has struck a chord with the Australian public and continues to evolve in order to provide for the needs of at-risk women and children. Working tirelessly with over 5000 volunteers, the charity has been able to deliver over 3 million packets of pads and tampons and over 600,000 essential filled handbags to Australian women and girls. Share the Dignity continues to grow with the support of passionate volunteers and the generosity of Australian businesses, ensuring that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.

Today is Universal Children’s Day and I am recalling the first Dignity Vending Machine we installed in a Melbourne school - Hampton Park Secondary School. I recall a young lady sharing a story about how she had got her period the week before the Dignity Vending Machine was installed, she had got her period unexpectedly and bled on the back of her uniform and on the chair, the boys laughed at her. She left school on that Tuesday morning and went home to text her mum asking her to bring home some period products. Sarah’s mum called her so upset as she explained to her that she didn’t get paid until Thursday. Sarah missed 2 ½ days of school that week. It is not uncommon for a household to live one paycheck to another with more than 3 million Australians living below the poverty line. I was adamant then as I am now that no student should have their education disrupted by a lack of period products. Schools equipped with our Dignity Vending Machines are leading the way for student support. Children deserve safe, dignified access to essential products. Our Dignity Vending Machines ensure that no student is left behind. Our goal in Australia is simple. Wherever a girl is receiving an education there should be access to period products and while each state and territory is doing their own thing it is evident we still have a long way to go. Our primary schools are often left behind, our Tafes and universities too. BUT so too are our girls in private schools. I know I went to a private school and my family was not wealthy at all, both parents worked two jobs to ensure I received an education. It is time for all wherever a girl is receiving an education there is FREE dignified access to period products. Does your school provide period products?

It might be the smallest Bunnings in Australia, but it's making a HUGE impact 💫 Emerson from Bunnings Kalamunda in WA was only too happy to help our volunteer Janine fill her car with an impressive 37 It's in the Bag donations - 19 Adult, 11 Teen and 7 Mum & Bub Bags. Thank you Janine for sharing! We are so bloody proud to have the most incredible network of volunteers in all of Australia. We simply couldn't make the impact we do without our amazing volunteers generously lending their time to collecting, checking and counting donations throughout It’s in the Bag 💖

After years of domestic violence at the hands of the father of her children, Miranda was brave enough to leave her ex with the help of her brother-in-law, courageously fighting for the safety of her children. Her story on the latest episode of Another Bloody Podcast is a powerful reminder of the impact an It's in the Bag has for a woman fleeing domestic violence. Every bag you donate helps women like Miranda have the dignity they deserve. 🎧 Listen to her episode wherever you get your podcasts and make an impact by donating to our It's in the Bag appeal this November.
