Positive environmental actions for everyone.
About us
Planet Ark Environmental Foundation is an Australian not-for-profit organisation with a vision of a world where people live in balance with nature. Established in 1992, we are one of Australia’s leading environmental behaviour change organisations with a focus on working collaboratively and positively. Our campaigns and programs build on our positive and action-based philosophy to work with a broad range of individuals, schools, councils and workplaces. In short, we define ourselves by what we are for rather than what we are against. This approach strikes a strong chord amongst the millions of Australians who take part in our campaigns each year. *We are non confrontational* At Planet Ark, we want to offer you positive environmental actions. We'll inspire you with ideas, solutions and suggestions for how you can improve your environmental impact... and give you a big pat on the back when you do! *We are non-political* We want to see people, businesses and governments working together to protect our planet's ability to thrive. This means we will work with a range of businesses across a number of sectors and we endeavour to work with whichever government is in office to bring about genuine environmental change. *We are a leading Australian charity* As a small charity, Planet Ark relies on support from the community to maintain our program of essential campaigns and donations continue to form a critical component of our growth. We are lucky to receive generous financial support from a range of businesses and government groups who are committed to a future in which people live in balance with nature.

Delighted to contribute to the CIRCO “Creating business through circular design” training program run by Planet Ark in conjunction with UNSW. The recent CIRCO Challenge Workshop involved attendees undertaking an interactive design sprint on #circulareconomy #innovation. Five amazing student teams presented their creative circular economy solutions, each showing impressive problem-solving and teamwork. A joy to judge and share details about our UNSW SMaRT Centre's various #sustainability-inspired #waste and #recycling innovations, such as multiple #MICROfactorie Technologies. Deets: https://lnkd.in/gbj9GgNa The day was organised at UNSW under the leadership of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Societal Transformation & Equity SDG team, the @UNSW SDG Steering Committee, and the UNSW Business School. Do you have soft plastic waste in your business? National Recycling Week supporting sponsor Australian Paper Recovery (APR) is already collecting soft plastics in select regions for recycling with plans to expand capacity ♻️ APR recycles paper, plastics, and cardboard, and in 2019 launched their own material recovery facility. Their next step is the commissioning of a soft plastics pyrolysis plant in Victoria. Pyrolysis is a form of advanced recycling that transforms soft plastics into valuable raw materials, a process APR will be commencing in the coming months to help close the loop on plastic waste in Australia. Get in touch with AUSTRALIAN PAPER RECOVERY PTY LTD to divert your business’s plastic waste from landfill. #NationalRecyclingWeek

Planet Ark congratulates Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia(SPSA) on receiving authorisation from the ACCC to move forward with a national, industry-led soft plastics stewardship scheme. With the news coming just in time for National Recycling Week, this is a huge win for the future of soft plastics recycling in Australia and marks a critical step toward building a circular economy for soft plastics — where materials are collected, recycled, and reintroduced as valuable resources rather than waste. Planet Ark is proud to be working closely with Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia to help design a strong, credible and efficient soft plastic recycling scheme. Collaboration across industry is driving real progress for recycling and circularity with 7-Eleven, Aldi, Coles, Colgate-Palmolive, Cripps Nubake, Danone, Essity, Ferrero, Fonterra, General Mills, Goodman Fielder, Haleon, HARIBO, Kao, Kellanova, L’Oréal, Mars, McCain, McCormick, Metcash, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Peters Ice Cream, Procter & Gamble, Reckitt, Sanitarium, Saputo Dairy, SC Johnson, Simplot, Snackbrands, The Natural Confectionery Company, Unicharm, Unilever and Woolworths already supporting the scheme. Will your brand be next? Find out more about SPSA and how your organisation can join the movement at https://spsa.au/.
