Mornington Shire Council is proud to acknowledge the incredible work of Lulu and her team, whose dedication through Lulu's Laundry has created a safe, welcoming, and warm environment for our community. Her service is more than just laundry — it’s a place of dignity, connection, and care that strengthens the fabric of our community. We are proud to have partnered with Orange Sky Australia, North West Hospital and Health Service, Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council and North-West Queensland Indigenous Community Social Services and watch this project go from strength to strength. To see this collaboration recognised at the National Rural and Remote Health Awards, is a testament to what can be achieved when communities and organisations unite with a shared purpose. This recognition highlights the power of partnerships and the impact of local leadership. Lulu’s commitment, alongside the collective efforts of our partners, demonstrates how we can improve health and wellbeing outcomes in some of the most remote parts of Australia. 👏 Thank you, Lulu, for your tireless work and the warmth you bring to community. Your contribution embodies the spirit of community we strive to foster every day.
After many years working in the health sector, I’ve come to understand the value of partnerships and collaboration - and I'm so excited to share our success at last night's National Rural and Remote Health Awards! In a joint submission alongside North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS), Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council, Mornington Shire Council and North-West Queensland Indigenous Community Social Services, WE WON the category of Rural/Remote Multidisciplinary Collaboration. An incredible acknowledgement of the power of our partnership! The night was a wonderful celebration of all the work happening in the rural and remote health sector, and our shared commitment to improved outcomes. It's truly an honour and privilege to work in collaboration with NWHHS, community controlled or community led partner organisations, incredible employees and the communities themselves that we work alongside. A special thanks to Christine Mann BSW, GAICD, Clare Newton (Exec Director Remote Health) and Mel Riordan. Collaboration isn't just between organisations - it's within Orange Sky Australia too. A special shout out to Morgan Cranch and Luke Miskimmin who have supported these Queensland services in the past few years and to Lucas Patchett OAM for his leadership. There's a long way to go in improving health outcomes, but we are so proud to be making a real impact and I am so grateful for this collaboration. #NRRHA25 #RuralPositive #collaboration #ownershipthroughpartnership
