We loved reconnecting with our alumni at our new Melbourne office and celebrating the incredible journeys that continue to shape the Hall & Wilcox story. Our refreshed Alumni Program is about more than staying in touch – it’s about celebrating the people who have helped build our firm and the paths they’ve taken since. It’s also about recognising the culture that connects us: one that remains authentic, respectful and collaborative, no matter how much we grow. We’re proud of our alumni and the lasting contribution they make to the legal profession, business community and beyond. Their achievements are part of our story, and a reflection of what makes Hall & Wilcox different. Whether at the firm for a season or for decades, our alumni remain a valued part of our community. Last night we celebrated local talent at our Brisbane Emerging Artists Exhibition – a vibrant showcase of creativity featuring six emerging artists from the Brisbane community. The exhibition is part of our national Hall & Wilcox Art Exhibition and Acquisition Program, which supports early-career Australian artists by bringing bold, original work in our offices and building meaningful connections between artists, our people, clients and the wider community. Since 2014, the program has helped new voices be seen, shared and celebrated. Congratulations to the joint finalists for the 2025 Art Prize: 🖼️ Gazing Up, Lightbox by Magdalena Marciniak 🖼️ Delicacy by Caitlin Kearney We’re proud to support local emerging Australian artists and thank all who joined us to champion local creativity. A new talent and innovation visa, significant record-keeping obligations for employers and strict unfair dismissal laws – there are many intricacies in Australia’s approach to migration and employment that foreign investors need to know about when considering doing business in Australia. Cyber risk is no longer just an IT issue – it’s one of the most significant reputational and legal challenges facing businesses today. At our first Tomorrow’s Conversations Today event in Adelaide, Partner and Head of Cyber Eden Winokur shared his perspective on what’s happening in the domestic and global cyber space, and what we might see more (and less) of in 2026. The message was clear: preparation matters. Good security, strong policies and procedures and engaging experts can make all the difference when responding to an incident. Practicing your response isn’t optional – it’s critical to improving outcomes.

We celebrate the life and incredible legacy of Geoff Durham who passed away on 16 November 2025. Geoff shaped Hall & Wilcox over more than seven decades, beginning his journey with the firm in 1948 as an office boy at just 16 years old, before eventually becoming a partner in 1957 and served as managing partner for most of his tenure until 1992. After retiring, Geoff continued as a consultant with the firm for many years, focusing on the recruitment and training of articled clerks. He regularly spoke to our graduate lawyers and was passionate about ensuring young lawyers were trained properly and treated well. He continued to mentor our young lawyers well into his 90s. A formidable litigator and respected leader, Geoff built longstanding relationships with insurance clients. He played a pivotal role in diversifying the firm in the 1980s. He set the benchmark for professionalism and helped shape the culture and values that still define Hall & Wilcox today. Geoff’s commitment extended far beyond the law. His tireless advocacy for environmental conservation earned him an OAM in 2022, recognising his contributions through the Victorian National Parks Association, the National Parks Advisory Council and his service to the community through the Scouting movement. We celebrate Geoff’s remarkable life and the lasting impact he made on our firm and the wider community. Vale Geoff Durham.
