  • The PB/5 Pedestrian Button is one of Australia’s most enduring designs. It's pressed millions of times a day, recognised by touch, sound and silhouette. You can even hear it's familiar beep in #BillieEilish’s song, ‘Bad Guy’. First developed in the early 1980s by Nielsen Design for the NSW Roads Authority, its rounded form and magnetic mechanism were built to last. Four decades on, it continues to do its job. The PB/5 was honoured with the 2025 Livio Bonollo Award for Longevity. Good Design Australian commends its timeless contribution to safety, accessibility and design that simply works. We sat down with Adam Laws, Director of Neilsen Design, to explore why this humble button became a cultural icon of Australian design. Start reading: https://lnkd.in/gFrVHG5x
