  • After almost 24 years, Lisa Fitzpatrick retired as ANMF (Vic Branch) Secretary on 4 July 2025. In 1983, Lisa qualified as a registered nurse at Prince Henry’s Hospital, and completed postgraduate studies in education and advanced nursing. She was a Prince Henry’s Job Rep during Victoria’s 1986 50-day strike. While working as a diabetes nurse educator, Lisa held the Branch President position between 1991 and 1996. She then came to work in the Branch as a recruitment officer and an organiser for the private acute sector before becoming Branch Secretary at the end of 2001. At the time the union had around 35,000 members. Her relentless campaigning ability to advocate for respect for nurses’ and midwives’ expert education, knowledge and lifesaving skills has left the professions and the more than 111,000-member strong ANMF (Vic Branch) ready to take on the challenges ahead. ANMF (Vic Branch) is the largest union branch of the largest union in Australia. Lisa’s formidable, persistent and successful advocacy will be missed by our nursing, midwifery and personal care worker members and Branch staff. We wish her peace, moments of joy and adventure with her family and hope she enjoys a well-earned rest in life after ANMF.

  • Let's talk about your 'nepo baby'. Every industry has offspring following in their parents' (or grandparents') footsteps, including nursing and midwifery. We're proud to have members from two to three generations. And we are committed to ensuring the future of our professions are well supported, such as our annual student event, Ace it! If you have offspring (or even a nibling or a bestie's offspring) who is in their final year of a diploma or bachelor of nursing and/or midwifery in Victoria, please encourage them to register. They will learn how to ace their: ✍ grad or job applications 🗣️ interviews (we'll be conducting mock interviews!) 💰 their pay and entitlements (fought and won by ANMF members) 👩🎓 hear from grad nurses and midwives who have been through the process 🎟️ Register today! https://lnkd.in/gkdx9Psp P.S. We also have exclusively for ANMF Vic student members, 200 ANMF/HESTA clinical placement grants worth $450. Click the link above!

  • It’s been 13 days since Victorian public mental health nurse members began protected industrial action. And they are still going strong with their red t-shirts and various other stage 1 actions. They’re campaigning for: 🟪 parity with general public sector nurses’ pay and conditions 🟪 enforceable nursing staffing levels in bed-based services and community mental health teams. While the Victorian Government has offered pay parity, it has refused to offer us about 70 claims, including many that ANMF secured for our general nurse colleagues. 📣 Mental health nurses are not worth less than general nurses. Thank you to everyone for supporting this important campaign. #InOurEBAEra

You can find the agenda online <include link>. I look forward to a favourable response so I can register today. Regards, <your name> Feel free to tweak it - just ensure you've included the dates, number of days and type of CPD activity you'll undertake on leave. *Download your EBA via the ANMF member portal. If you're a general public sector nurse or midwife, look for clause 75.
