The walls are caving in, and the only way out…is up! Exit the Gungeon picks up where 2016’s Enter the Gungeon ended, challenging you to blast your way out of the crumbling catacombs that you fought so hard to conquer. The original game’s top-down perspective has been flipped on its side, launching you into frenetic 2D platforming levels filled with Shotgats, Skullets and bizarre bosses.
What we love: The unpredictability. Your gun automatically transforms during battle, and you never know what you’ll get next – maybe a slow but powerful blunderbuss, a wicked quad laser or an exploding banana. There are nearly 200 weapons in all, giving every run a dose of firearm freshness.
Quick tip: Your kaliber meter ticks up as you frag foes without taking hits. The higher the number, the more likely your weapon will morph into something awesome, such as the Moonscraper or Mass Shotgun.
Meet the creator: Exit the Gungeon was originally a game called To the Hell by South Korean indie developer Singlecore Games. The makers of Enter the Gungeon – Texas-based Dodge Roll – liked it so much, they worked with Singlecore to adapt To the Hell into Exit the Gungeon.
