In Cat Quest 3, you get to wear the boots of a heroic puss again. But this time, the adventure sets sail across the vast and perilous Purribean, an open-world archipelago teeming with treasure, mystery and ruthless rodents – the Pirats!

As a budding buccaneer, your ultimate quest is to look for the greatest loot of all, the North Star, with plenty of cave exploring, island raiding and bounty hunting along the way. Here’s what’s on the horizon when you’re ready to hoist the sails.

For this third instalment of their beginner-friendly RPG series, Singapore–based studio The Gentlebros has introduced quite a few new features.

True to the setting, naval combat and seafaring exploration are now available. You can steer your own upgradeable ship around the islands, fight sea battles or bombard onshore enemies. With keen observation and cannonry skill, you can even shoot past obstacles and thin out enemies before difficult land battles.

Cat Quest 3 also features local co-op via controllers, enabling two players to quest together as a dynamic privateering duo. This introduces plenty of new possibilities by allowing each player to specialise their hero in creative ways, especially when the game has so much equipment with unique abilities. Keep experimenting with your arsenal of swords, sidearms and spells!

Fans of the swashbuckling genre won’t be disappointed with the Purribean world, where hidden loot and quirky stories can be found in every nook and cranny. Some of them even carry references to legendary pirates of yore, or iconic pop culture examples of the genre. The humour is off the charts, with plenty of puns and (spoiler!) a mini-boss that’s a giant rubber duck made of metal!
