Anjouan, Union of the Comoros – A ceremony was held in Anjouan to inaugurate a new ferry service dedicated to transporting passengers and vehicles between the islands of the archipelago, in the presence of H.E. President Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros, H.E. Juma Rashid Al Rumaithi, Ambassador of the UAE to Moroni, and several senior officials. The service is operated by Serdal International, a joint venture between AD Ports Group and Resources Investment, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of supporting maritime transport and logistics projects and enhancing regional integration across East Africa. The new ferry YAMEELA accommodates up to 190 passengers and 45 vehicles, linking Moroni Port in Grande Comore with the city of Mutsamudu in Anjouan. This provides a safe and reliable means of transport that facilitates the movement of people and goods, stimulates tourism, and drives local economic growth. In Shabwah, Global South Utilities (GSU), part of Abu Dhabi’s Resources Investment LTD, inaugurated the 53MW Solar Power Plant that will supply clean electricity to 330,000 households and fully power Ataq City and six surrounding districts. Ali Alshimmari, MD & CEO of GSU, said, “This milestone must be more than a power plant, it must be a school, a beacon of knowledge and innovation for the people of Shabwah. From here, I hope to see not only light for our homes, but science and technology exported to the world.” With Shabwah now operational and the expansion of Aden Solar Power Plant underway, one million homes in Yemen will soon be powered by clean energy. These monumental projects not only bring electricity, but also knowledge and capabilities to empower future generations, lighting the way to a brighter future, powered by people.
